SIGNIFICANCE:In 2002, Ducati produced 700 998R bikes for the world. 50 were imported into the US as For Racing Purposes Only (MSO) bikes (MSRP $28,995). Most of these bikes went to 2 types of buyers, collectors or racers. This bike was bought to be competitively raced, which it was until midway through the 2005 season. In its opening season, the bike was placed on the podium multiple times. After the 2005 season, the bike became a very nice track bike.

In 2006, I got the bike with intention of taking a raced and tracked limited edition Ducati and enhance it to make an ultimate street bike. I got it titled and licensed and started upgrading the bike while retaining its racing character and heritage. While no Ducati is ever complete or done, this one is coming along very nicely (more modifications to follow as time and money allow).
