| BIKE: | 1977 900SS |
| OWNER: | Dan Bockmier |
| LOCATION: | California |
| MILEAGE: | 12,000 |
| ENGINE: | Stock Super Sport 900. Original Dellorto 40mm PHM A carburetors with float tickle buttons. Conti silencers. |
| CHASSIS: | Stock Super Sport 900. Original Marzocchi shock absorbers. Original shaved Brembo F08 calipers complete with period alloy brake pad pins. This bike has an unusual but not surprising factory goof. There is a rear master cylinder bracket welded to both the left and right sides of the sub frame, though the master cylinder was only ever mounted to the right side. |
| OTHER: | This is a non-US model. The differences from the US model include the small CEV tail light, Aprila handlebar light switch, no kill switch, and three light instrument panel. 496 non US 1977 900 SS models were produced. |
| SIGNIFICANCE: | I found this particular machine languishing as an incomplete, significantly incorrect and unfinished project with more than eight years of grime and rust wearing on her beauty. Returning her to the road was a labor that has returned dividends a hundred times over in the form of pure riding enjoyment. This bike's creamy smooth yet forceful power delivery, fabulous sound and long slender good looks make it the bench mark for all other motorcycles I ride. Fabio Taglioni was a genius! |
