| SIGNIFICANCE: | This Super Sport is one of 249 produced in 1975. The engine is of the DM750.1 series which signifies that the bike was a continuation of the "Green Frame" 750 SS and was produced by the Ducati race shop using the "new" 860 case. This bike was imported to the US from Germany around 2001. In 2005, Tom purchased the bike as a basket case. This consisted of the engine, frame and a pile of parts. On close inspection it was apparent that the bike was stripped of its rare parts that are shared with the 1974 Green Frame, most likely to restore one. This bike has the correct Borrani 4777 wheels. It took 1.5 years to find them, oddly enough in Germany. We sourced parts from 7 different countries. We had to make many odd pieces such as bushings and wheel spacers as they are just not to be found. Restoring a bike like this was a lesson in patience. We are happy to have brought one of the rarer production Ducati back from the dead. |
