| BIKE: | 1988 750 F1 |
| OWNER: | Dan Bockmier |
| LOCATION: | California |
| MILEAGE: | 8,400 |
| ENGINE: | Stock and original. Originally specified for this model was a US regulation compliant dual exhaust system that severely hampered performance and wastefully increased dry weight. In its place is an original set of F1 European model specification two-into-one headers and a period after-market Silentium muffler. |

| OTHER: | This unrestored and regularly ridden Ducati 750 F1 is a 1988 USA model, often referred to as an F1b. The finish on this bike is original and though the factory paint quality at the time could sometimes barely transcend rattle can work, I admire the Ducati tricolor scheme which first appeared on the 750 F1. One other modification of note are the period EPM wheels. Though no weight reduction is appreciated with these Arturo Magni favorites, these Italian 18 inch rims eliminate the unbalanced original 16 inch front / 18 inch rear configuration, whose justification was little more than the fashion of the time. |
| SIGNIFICANCE: | The 750 F1 is the direct road-going descendant of the Ducati TT2 and TT1 racers, which were the last Ducati machines designed by the immortal Fabio Taglioni. As a consequence, the 750 F1 is often thought of as the last Ducati manufactured by the brilliant individuals who originally brought Ducati to motorcycling prominence, before new influences took control of the company. To commemorate this distinction the license plate for this bike is "Last Duc." |
